Dredge Hurley to get new engines soon
View SourceThe U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District has awarded a contract to Thoma-Sea Marine Constructors to repower the dredge Hurley.
The Hurley is a diesel electric dustpan dredge which dredges the Mississippi River in the Memphis area. The dredge was designed to operate on two generators with a third on standby. To be compliant with current EPA emission rules, the dredge was approved to be repowered.
A conceptual design was completed in 2018 and three diesel generator sets will be procured and replaced as part of the repower efforts.
The repowering of the dredge Hurley will be performed in Houma, Louisiana, with an estimated completion date of November 11, 2025.
