Meldahl Locks and Dam Main Chamber Closure (release)

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Huntington District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the main chamber at Captain Anthony Meldahl Locks and Dam, Ohio River, mile 436.2, will be closed until further notice. The 110 ft by 600 ft auxiliary chamber will be available for lockage with the priority to commercial traffic.
A dive inspection was performed in the main lock chamber on November 20, 2023. The result of that inspection necessitated a requirement to dewater the lock chamber to further investigate the miter gate and underlying concrete.
Mariners are urged to contact the lockmaster via Marine Channel 13 for more information and coordination for lockage.
