The St. Paul district of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently awarded a $22.5 million contract to a Minnesota contractor for gate maintenance on Lock and Dam No. 5 north of Winona on the Mississippi River, according to a press release.
The project will focus on sandblasting, painting, rehabilitating and other maintenance of the dam roller gates and service bridge.
The repair work will not impact navigation, the release says, and construction is expected to be completed in November 2028.
Abhe & Svobada Inc. of Jordan, Minnesota, was awarded the contract for the project.
