A look at the bottom of Lock & Dam 12
View SourceA group of Rock Island District Army Corp of Engineers employees recently participated in a Leadership and Development Program at Lock and Dam 12 in Bellevue, and got a tour of the de-watered lock here.
Last week, the main chamber was de-watered in order to perform a series of maintenance work, as well as for inspection of the eight-decade old dam.
Work to be performed during the next few weeks include installation of the sill beam and concrete along the downstream bulkhead sill; inspection and adjustment of lock miter gates; upper anchorage bar modifications; replacement of the lock air bubbler system; other miscellaneous repairs; and an inspection of the facility.
The facility is closed to river traffic through March 3.
