Tenney Lock to reopen Saturday after four months closed

Madison boaters can look forward to Tenney Lock reopening Saturday after several months of being closed for upgrades, announced the Dane County Land and Water Resources Department.

The upgrades involved adding remote controls to the dam, which will permit staff to control water levels on the lake.

The lock, which is located on the Yahara River at the entryway to Lake Mendota, allows boats to cross between Lakes Mendota and Monona. The lock will follow the same schedule as 2016, from Thursday through Sunday, with the lock also opening on Wednesdays throughout August.
